    z,

You seem a little confused about the difference between a company and a stock exchange. The two are very different.

A company is a enterprise which is bound to pursue its own commercial interests on behalf of its owners, ie shareholders.

A stock exchange is merely a place which was designed for perspective investors go to acquire an interst in a company, or an existing investor to go to sell their equity. In reality it is also infested by rabble that have no investment intentions whatsoever but merely want to see if they can grab a few dollars here and there from those that do.

A company can take as long as they feel necessary to negotiate a transaction and is neither bound to hurry or or bend over just to keep participants in the stock market happy. Their primary consideration is for the long term benefit on the company and its investors, not the short term whims of a few who want to keep their options open, or jump in and out without outlaying any actual money. To argue otherwise is akin to demanding a ban on Penecillin because bacteria have a right to live.

A company cannot and should not have to consider the personal financial situations of a few individuals who happen to fly close to the wind cash wise, ie buy without having any actual money to settle the trade for example. How could any board concentrate on running a company effectively if they have to worry about how heavily overdrawn each investors credit card is and when their payments are due, or who is in the middle of a T+3 trade and might get stuck? This ring any bells form last time Z ?

Investors have no guarantees of liquidity in any stock, beit trading, in a halt, suspended, delisted, up the recievers clacker or otherwise. To invest in stocks is to accept this risk. Like any other reasonable person I feel for those that get hit up suddenly for whatever genuine reason beyond their control but catering for that isn't a founding principle of the markets are we all know and accept this when we voluntarily start investor or trading in stocks. Its not like CDU hasn't got a well known reputation for doing exactly this now is it? How can you invest in a stock and whing when it does exactly what it is renowned for doing? That like buying a rooster and complaining when it wakes you up in the morning.

To pretend that a company has any obligation to faciliate or encourage liquidity at any given moment in time is to confuse the primary responsibilities of a company with the purpose of a completely different entity, ie an exchange.

No need to finish your post with such sarcasm, ie "I hope that none of you need to sell for any reason in the next 3 weeks or so". Thats just unnecessary.
