"...What are the ordinary household applications that need upload speeds better than 2MB/s or download better than 10MB/s?...patman68"
Are you talking about just for this week, or are you talking about the next 10 to 50 years?
If the minimum speed (upload and download) throughout Australia was a minimum of 12Mbps, then there would be less urgency for the NBN.
patman68, how many products that require the Internet are there for the average home, how many were there 5 years ago, how many will there be in 10 years time?
The current fixed line phone system will also share the same Internet connection.
In our home we have around a dozen network devices (excluding mobile phones, tablets and laptops etc) that use the same fixed line Internet connection.
And apart from other home business items and projects I cannot carry out because of poor wireless and fixed line options available to our location in the outer Melbourne suburbs.
So back to my question, are you talking about just for this week, or are you talking about the next 10 to 50 years?
