from what it looks like Platmin had the Grootboob farm which in isolation was relatively small but shallow --the scale of the project would increase significantly if they landed the Tubatse farms -hence the proxy war using Beng ;

Now if Twist/De Brouin are funding an interim loan then (given their connections to Newco board) one of the indirect inference could be that NewCo/Pallinghurst have decided to pursue consolidation strategies on the eastern limb as well; ofcourse this is one of many possibilities
