You are correct and it reflects the standard of training that is now the norm in Australia
Australian tradesman and professionals were as good, or better than anyone in the world due to their training and their attitude.
That is no longer true, look at the "accelerated " training programs, look at so called first year apprentices being paid almost full money
In Victoria the government has been getting some stick due to trying to change TAFE and cut down costs, well the best thing they could do is close it down it is a now bloated, failed organization. It was brilliant, but it's charter was changed by the Labor party so this is the result.
The apprenticeship programs are now a joke, you have one tradesman controlling too many apprentices with the result of no, on the job training. Courses are too narrow and specialized, meaning they do not get any breadth in their training.
The government wants control of everything and they believe that if everyone is compelled to get a piece of paper they can get better statistics, whether they are good at their job does not matter.
All workers must be homogenized into a controllable stream, no good and bad just at the lowest common denominator, BAD
