"...let's not forget that the Labor went into the last election as the favorites 51% to 49% and what did we end up with?...kennethgalbraith"
The result was ALP 50.1% to 49.9% LNP, which is pretty close.
glug,
despite labor (with the help of the greens) winning the most votes -ALP 50.1% to 49.9% LNP - the coalition won the most seats, 73 -72
only due to a couple of conservative turncoats did labor get in
my point is that in 1998 howard had 49% of the vote and still came home with a majority of 13 seats
i reckon the same will occur again. the coalition may only win 49% of the vote but this time the number of seats won will be such that even conservative turncoats will not be able to save them.
one thing for sure, the electorate in conservative turncoat seats will not be fooled again and that a party that brands itself as conservative and is in fact conservative will take their seats
2 seats to coalition
