I suppose we are all a bit cynical about the approval process. It seems that Malaysia's so called desire for foreign investment is just a hollow catch-cry that has no substance.

There appears to be other things in play behind the scenes which has basically crippled Lynas's ability to become the world's leader in REE production.

Lynas would have been streets ahead of anything else in the field but unfortunately due to the Malaysian process it will hobble into production eventually I suppose.

Many multinationals who thought about investment in Malaysia will no doubt think again and ask even with all the so called incentives, is it worth going through what Lynas has gone through?

Answer will be "maybe not" as there are plenty of other countries around that would no doubt fast-track their project.

Disappointing but Malaysia may have just shot itself in the foot!
