Nice post, Luxo.
When I worked in aquaculture, algae was a useful component for artificial feeds, and that's a market that will continue to grow.
Back in those days I spent a bit of time looking at algae production for aquaculture feeds, and the numbers were good, as there were only 2 industry suppliers of much scale in Aus - one on King Island and one in SA (and he took 7 years to get a ministerial exemption to operate a wild harvest, so some barriers to entry). Can't comment on comparison to biofuel use, but like aquaculture in Aus in general, there were high capital costs but good long term margins at what I was investigating.
Interesting food for thought.
