That ash layer may explain the frac fluid excess. Sanchez had difficulty setting the liner and also had a screen out. The large number of stages suggests that they wanted to limit penetration of each of the fracs to keep them within the shale but one or more may have penetrated through to the ash. Sanchez said that the cores from this layer look little different from the EFS cores.
