Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy is embroiled in a legal tussle that brings to the fore the extent of the tax loopholes that currently exist in Kenya’s oil exploration laws. Energy minister Kiraitu Murungi has said the government is battling the likelihood of losing 3 billion shillings, should an undisclosed oil exploration company transfer its exploration license to a third party without the government’s involvement in the transaction.
