I got the impression that they were surprised by my question about a change of year end date.
I led into the question on the basis of the previous year revisions that they've had to do. From the CFO, Paul Chamber's answer it did appear that quite a lot of thought had gone into it.
The main issue is the timing of almond growing cycle and when is best to be able to make informed estimations for the purposes of the applicable accounting standards. According to Paul the 30 June year end, whilst not ideal, works the best out of all of the alternatives.
