"I bought a stock for 20c, and sold out at $2. Not long after it shot up to $8. After this experience, one tend to hang on a bit longer"
Have to agree with NYC's points. If one had purchased 125,000 shares for 10K of AKM @ 8 cents, surely they would sell the majority at a dollar. Say sell 100,000 shares and keep 25,000 in case the price keeps rising.
Similarly assuming you bought 50,000 shares in the stock at 20 cents and it's now at $8 (are we talking about SFR???) why did you sell all of it at $2? Why not sell 40,000 shares @ $2 for a $70k gross gain and keep 10,00 shares just in case it went to $8?????
Anyway coal stocks are in the gutter atm. I feel sorry for anyone who's cost base is above 20-30c on this particular stock.
