    Iraqi-Americans Protest False Amnesty

Calling October 20th a ¡§Day of Mourning,¡¨ Iraqi-Americans from all over the U.S. will hold a mass rally in Washington, DC, on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Thousands will converge at the 2nd Division Memorial, 17th & Constitution Ave., SW corner of the Ellipse, to protest
„X crimes against humanity committed by Saddam Hussein and his regime,
„X the ¡§False Amnesty¡¨ of political prisoners declared Oct. 20 by Saddam Hussein and

Iraqi-Americans in contact with family members in Iraq have confirmed that thousands of Iraqis kidnapped by Saddam¡¦s forces over the years are still unaccounted for despite the so-called amnesty declared by Saddam Oct. 20, in the aftermath of his ¡§election.¡¨

The United Nations has a moral obligation to heed the cries of the Iraqi people who braved the wrath of Saddam¡¦s regime to clamor publicly for the whereabouts of their loved ones.

Iraqi-Americans and Iraqis all over the world urge the United Nations and all the human rights organizations to institute the following:
„X Immediately dispatch human rights monitors to inspect all prisons, detention centers and secret police facilities for political prisoners held in violation of international law. Next, monitor the prisons to ensure that political prisoners are not rearrested.
„X Establish a human rights panel in Iraq to receive and document complaints from people unlawfully detained, arrested, tortured or who have family members who have disappeared or were executed.
„X Investigate the claims of family members of those political prisoners not released and safeguard those families who bravely stood in front of the international media to express concerns about their loved ones who were not released.
„X Hold Saddam Hussein accountable for his crimes against humanity and use of chemical and biological weapons by bringing him to trial before an International Tribunal.

Iraqi-Americans appreciate the support of those who sympathize with the plight of the Iraqi people and ask them to join the campaign to establish a free and democratic government in Iraq.

    Were you there, Fallguy??
