"FWIW: Much like the climate debate, ETR is not considered as gospel to everyone, and scientists were divided by claims of plagiarism and inaccuracy when ETR was first released in the early 1900's. Then after came Einsteins Special Theory of Relativity (a part 2)."
The two theories have not been disproven. They are cornerstones of modern physics. The special and general theories explain many of our observations of the universe - length contraction, time dilation, mass-energy equivalence, light being 'bent' by gravitational fields and the red shift of light due to gravitation, amongst others. Also, the special theory was published first (1905) and the general theory second (1916).
