couple of points.
mate of mine dropped a bottle of mercury in a small plane - about a 10 seater.
Few of them chased it around the floor scooping it up with their hands etc.
That was about 40 years ago.
he is now mid nineties and fit as a bull. I doubt if he would worry too much about cleaning up a broken compact fluro :)
Another point - I think compact fluros are mainly crap. I used to run a couple 24/7 - and there is no way hose that they do the hours they say they do - nowhere near it in fact.
That said, I light my kitchen with 6 reflector backed compact fluoros - the larger one's that look like spots.
I have found these to be magnificent - very cheap to run, put out massive light and have been kicking for years. All the rest I have tried have been very forgettable.
Modern tech led's should be good, led's have come a long way in the last 40 years. I guess there are leds and leds though.
