tpg asked
"are they manipulating the TA signals????"
The answer IMO is YES, every situation that is profitable
is exploited/manipulated, including TA signals.
What i find is that the weekly and monthly timeframes are more difficult to manipulate, as they show the larger trend.
a few of my rules to minimise the effects of manipulation are
1. alingn trades with the primary trend and intermediate trend
2. keep TA of illiquid stocks to a minimum or eliminate it all together
3. never get too close to the price action, so use daily charts as the shortest time frame.
Unless you are an algo/HFT master dont trade short term markets.
4. support and resistance levels are very easy to target, so develop rules/approaches to give you an edge and
be careful with where you place your stops and limit orders, as these levels are easily targeted.
Using standard TA is not any protection against manipulation UNLESS you develop superior TA skills that give you an edge,
and customising your approach and indicators can be very helpful.
There is no limit to how you use indicators to decipher price action, so use this creativity to your advantage.
Saying all this is the easy part.
With TA we all have to pay our dues, there is no substitute for time and experience.
Good luck tpg
