Looks like the Israel company might get the "lions share" of the chemical processing deals. Interesting to see how that pans out in terms of the mining/extraction portion!!
SNPT: Lome seeks Chemicals Group’s expertise
Togolese president Faure Gnassingbe has decided to call on the expertise of Israel’s Chemicals Group to bolster the capacity of Societe Nouvelle des Phosphates Togolais (SNPT).
During a state visit to Israel in late November, Gnassingbe, who was accompanied by his mines minister Tairou Bagbiegue, held a working session with Avner Maimon, deputy general manager and operations chief of Chemicals Group. The firm specializes in the production of phosphate, fertilizer, sulphuric acid and potassium.
Benny Omer, Tel Aviv’s envoy to Lome who resides in Ivory Coast and promotes Israeli businesses in West Africa, is preparing a visit by Chemical Group’s management to Togo in 2013.
Togo, which continues to export phosphate ore in raw form, has every hope of building an industrial complex at the mine heads. But that would cost around $400 million and the government alone couldn’t shoulder that amount.
