Agree with most of Omg's post.
When Lim Guan Eng was in Melbourne in March 2012, I attended one of his many functions. When asked about the chances of the opposition winning the next election; his answer was that he HOPED that they can win 100 seats which is NOT enough to form government but they think they can win the ONE AFTER this. I think this is a realistic accessment and from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
No doubt that the present BN Government is corrupt, non-Malays are ill treated and Lim Guan Eng is doing a good job managing Penang well. But recently Najib's image has improved a great deal, the only baggage is his wife Rosmah who has done terrible things.
Most of my Malaysian friends in Malaysia think that BN will still win the next election. They cannot see the 3 component parties represent very different views on many matters can work together when in government.
PAS will aim to turn Malaysia into an extreme Islamic country, their recent gender segregation rule in Kota Baru scared alot of non-muslim. If in government they would try very hard to implement hudud or sharia law.
DAP is very clever in manipulating the sentiment and frustration of the not so well educated or smart Chinese who feel oppressed and aggrieved by the BN government, so much so that they would believe anything that DAP and their
proxies throw onto them. Hence, SMSL and Wong Tack's Himpunan Hijau etc.
My friends think that BN is the Devil you know. Also, at the back of their mind, will there be peaceful transition of power if the opposition win?
