Any time but sadly it was not good news...the 3L simply should never have been used in the patrol...it was too heavy and a flying brick to boot...the engine had a fair but unspectacular history in the lighter Nissan it's just that Nissan's Australian arm are stupid and lost touch...still it seems.

Under warranty you are protected and even possibly a while outside given the evidence already on the net...possibly they are doing better today but even when they where grenading left right and centre years ago Nissan kept saying there was never problem, in the USA a class action would have pulled them straight fast but we here just seem to need to lump it each new owner unexpectedly another sucker (they will try you are at fault line often also)...never give an inch...the documentation available on the net is massive.

The older Patrols with the electronic TD4.2s (last years of that engine) will run reliably almost forever but they pull a massive premium over any identical year/condition 3l version and it is for a very good reason not one would just think because it's a bigger engine......the old school TD42 to replace costs like less than half of a 3L so go figure what is the true price of modern technology.

    cheers
