If CSG mining and other mining in general were good for the economy - look at QLD and WA. These states cut and slash public expenditure at a scale never seen before. Where's all the mining money?
Well, it's in the hands of some minining magnates and, mostly, shareholders of big international coporations. It's not in your hands, not in my hands, not in the local econonmy.
Some local businesses may be better off, for a couple of years or so. I get the feeling that the contributors to this forum own motels, earthmoving businesses or have rental houses.Well, you guys may profiteer for a while... the rest of us will go out of business. Farmers will get paid a pitance while their farms are being destroyed. CSG is safe? Yeah, just as safe as asbestos and smoking!
Want the truth? Go up to Cecil Plains and talk to the cotton farmers there. They are definitely not greenies, but hard nosed business people. They know why they fight CSG mining.
Re. MEL: These are just the poor sods for the dirty work, while the big miners sit back andf watch. If LTG succeeds, and there is a good chance they will, your shares will be worthless.
Use your brains, people. A glossy brochure is just that. Stop bashing those people who are concerned because they think further ahead than the next election. And put your money into sustainable businesses!
