even those 8/6 FIFO rosters are a hoax, the boys spend 1 day each way just in transit getting home and back.
Ok if your a single bloke, but if you've got a family, you still have all the inherit costs supporting the fam. and not being there for them.
Got a few mates, single, that FIFO but head to Bali for the 6-8 days on a longer roster, rather than head back to the Goldy, that seems to suit them. One has even rented a unit in Bali permanent for 300 per month.
Personally, I figured I'm better off than all that jive, by living in the South East corner, working 4 nite shifts per week, 3 klm from home, for 2/3 the money, where props and rents are a a fifth of the WA hoo haa. Get to head down the coast on weekends over summer, the snow in winter, or go trout fishing and relax. Life has never been easier.
