NetComm Wireless signs 4G distribution agreement with Westbase Technology, UK.
October 9, 2012 (Sydney): NetComm Wireless Limited (ASX: NTC) today announced the signing of its first supply agreement with Westbase Technology, a specialist distributor of wireless technologies for commercial and industrial applications, for the delivery of 3G and 4G wireless broadband devices and machine-to-machine (M2M) products to telecommunications carriers, value added resellers and business customers in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe.
With this strategic distribution agreement in place, the NetComm Wireless 4G WiFi Router (4G100W) is set to become one of the first 4G devices to enter the UK market following the recent decision by Ofcom, the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industry, to approve an application by Everything Everywhere, the corporation behind T-Mobile and Orange, to use its existing 1800MHz spectrum for 4G services from the 11th September, 2012.
As part of the agreement, Westbase Technology will also supply a range of NetComm Wireless' M2M products to vertical markets throughout the UK and Europe to provide applications in areas such as energy, transport, banking and retail with remote monitoring, control and maintenance capabilities.
"This is an extremely exciting time for the UK, both in terms of 4G broadband and M2M communications, and we look forward to working with NetComm Wireless to deliver technologies that will optimise wireless communications in each of these areas," said Sacha Kakad, Managing Director, Westbase Technology.
