I don't post very often but am long Lynas since 2007. It's been a bumpy ride, and I have traded it unsuccessfully, that is selling on selloffs and then having to buy back at a higher price. So finally, given all the information I have available, recently have been accumulating as the price dropped. Today, I just saw that China's biggest rare earth producer has seen the price of its product drop by about 75% from last year. Also, I did a quick check of companies with the word Rare Earth in their name, and all of them spiked last year and are trading at their lows. That means that Lynas's share price problems are not unique, or due to the whole SMSL controversy.
The issue is this: will there be a substantial market for Lynas's product going forward or not, and at reasonable prices, assuming rising global demand. I think there will be, as does Lambda, and having lost money selling low, I'll hold, be patient, and expect a turnaround. A final note is that Mathir Mohammed, former PM has given Lynas the thumbs up.
I personally think he has a lot of integrity, and has Malaysia's best interests in mind. If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.I am also a Green, and think that if REEs are mined responsibly, as I believe Lynas does, then it will help, not hurt the environment by empowering green technologies.
