While a counter is by no means guaranteed, I would not go as far as suggesting there isn't one. Perhaps you want to buy some more tomorrow. Think Han Long has the sp pretty tightly held down so you can still snap up more at 32 cents (or even less).
In a nut shell, the Chinese miscalculated.
Also, the company was not for Sale to anyone apart from the Chinese when GJ got the N-S-N-T waiver in recent months. Contrary to BS from teh usual suspects, the company has been rotting due to lack of interest for the last 2 years.
More crucially, until the Cameroon mining permit was issued JUST weeks ago, SDL had NOTHING to sell. Just an explore with NO rights to MINE or DEVELOP the project.
The company has effectively been on the market for weeks and the window is closing rapidly (as engineering by the chinese). A counter-bid could arrive any moment now !
In any case, the hedge funds will have their own COUNTER-BID ready for Han Long. I have received many takeover cheaques where the suitor had to up the price and declare a FINAL OFFER (in almost EVERY case, there were no counter-bidders - just a strong board and resolute shareholders - and ETHICAL non-Chinese bidders).
