this is not a political bulletin board
the approval and regulatory process imposed on lynas was way beyond what should have been necessary for a complying industry in an industrial park
the one marginally radioactive by-product is less radioactive and off lower volume than what is pumped out by a number of other industries in malaysia namely tin smelting and coal fired power
the whole thing was a political beat up in a marginal electorate
any sane review eg AELB, IAEA, PSC, MOSTI minister, by several judges etc etc so far has shown it to be hazard free and under control by appropriate processes
it was a soft target being non essential and foreign based
yes business in malaysia involves politics - talk to gunns about the same in Oz
