I'm not sure as Apost. says that there will be other parties interested in the 49%. Why would you buy a minority stake?

The value here is the 1% past 50% which Xstrata negotiated in the original agreement. They will have control and therefore will be able to manipulate the value of the balance to a degree.

No, I think we should hold our breath as to what the 51% is worth, the balance being just the icing!
