    1) 'is expected to emit nearly 8 tons of rare-earth waste'

    8 tons expected to be made from 40 tons of rare earth. That does not necessarily indicate that the ratio is 20% wasted as Lynas have already stated that they have a 90% recovery rate.


    2) 'waste can be made of gypsum, fertilizer and road building materials'

    I'd expect something additional added to the raw rare-earth waste to produce the end by-product/s amounting to 8 tons for each 40 tons processed.

    So with the 10% waste it is re-processed with additional materials to produce the end-by-products.

    Is there an engineer out there that can confim?
