    Re your post which included;
    "... I don't have a problem with governments privatising such businesses as the government sector is inherently wasteful. ..."

    Have you forgotten already about ENRON, Lehman Bothers, Bernie Maidoff, the bailout of the global banking systems by governments [ie. taxpayers], the bailout of global corporations by their governments, etc.?

    The so-called 'private sector' only ever delivers reliable returns to its executives - you need look no further the the remuneration of GS employees to see the outflow tube of the global wealth vacuum cleaner.

    The public sector may be full of boguns, weighed down by red tape and run over-budget at times; but at least it's there to serve the public and to take the risks our private sector would never attempt; the NBN for example!

    We need both public and private sectors of our economy to operate at the cutting edge of efficenency and innovation; but given the way in which we survived the GFC and its aftermath, we should also pay a little credit where credit is due!
