The options were awarded some time ago and possibly before the talks of the takeover.
So, IMHO, it would not have created anything that could have ruffled some feathers.
But that is only my opinion.
For what we know, it could also have been an agreement with the bidding company that no more shares will have to be issued during negotiations.
