Of you look at the taxation revenue here:
http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/[email protected]/Latestproducts/5506.0Main%20Features22010-11?opendocument&tabname=Summary&prodno=5506.0&issue=2010-11&num=&view=
and the coal price here:
http://www.indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=coal-australian&months=120
you will see that the revenue correlates exactly with the coal price.
The current government is a coalition of Labor with the Greens.
Both Labor and the Greens are responsible for the creation of new public service dept the Climate Commission. Also it is the Greens policy to stop coal mining in Australia.
So the Labor/Greens want to spend a lot more money and tax a lot more to pay for it. However the Greens dont want the tax revenue to come from coal exports or extractive industries full stop. They want it to come from somewhere else? Perhaps everyone can become climate consultants?
