Dad was in small business throughout the 60s. Maybe it was the type of business that was the problem. Dad had good turnover low taxes and plenty of employees throughout the 60s.
Suddenly overnight it changed under Whitlam in the early 70s. Costs especially wages skyrocked but margins didnt causing profits to drop dramatically even losses
Maybe it had something to do with the ACTU and that other union stooge Hawke!
Anyway look at todays union stooges proping up Gillard and Australian wage cost are extreme in many union dominated industries.
Goodbye manufacturing and oh now Boral 700. Not good for small building businesses
