they did bring in the defence force to help with the big vic bush fires ....and I believe eventually in Qld with the Brisbane floods I have asked the same questions, the army have the manpower and the equipment.....why not use it.
is there any reason they are not automatically engaged in domestic disasters ? or part of the conversation with emergency services organisations when implementing a coordinated response...
or is it simply slack management by authorities, and those in charge just stand by and watch the disasters unfold...
most of the time we are talking about small remote communities, that have neither the money or the man power to defend themselves
