@Tipster: your faith in ASX announcements is touching, but that announcement was only as good as the situation on the day it was announced.

The whole problem with Malaysia is the constant shifting of the goalposts. The changing debate and shifting opinions. And at the heart of it all is politics - it has nothing at all to do with the environment or waste or radiation.

It may be all those things to some people, but they are being cynically manipulated by those with the political agenda.

There has been a whole string of ASX announcements from Lynas over the last couple of years, and most of those have become redundant or plain wrong. Like start-up times, etc. Just because it comes out as an announcement from the ASX does NOT make it an immutable law from the mouth of God! ;)

This minister - who represents the Chinese Malays - may have an agenda that we are unaware of - but something is making him stray from the party line and shoot his mouth off. Also the other three who spouted with him a few weeks ago. Is this the same agenda that has seen the share price decimated? Or why the selling is so relentless? And why the shorters have made and are still making a motzah?

Who knows? But your reliance on an old ASX announcement from Lynas is naive at best, and silly at least. You should have learned by now that when it comes to Lynas and the requirements of Malaysia, there is no such thing as a fixed target. It changes from day to day, week to week. And this may yet be another shift.

And don't think for one minute that having to export ALL the residue, whether converted to saleable co-products or not, will be a cheap exercise. It will cost the company dearly.
