confused -is it kerogen?, page-2

In short this report confirms what we wanted to hear.

Now the longer answer, Kerogen is what is produced from the organic matter that was laid down with the silt when the rock was formed. It then needs to be "cooked" at 400 to 450 deg C to make it into oil. If it is held much hotter than than, then it go through the liquid phase and onto a gaseous phase.

If the Kerogen doesn't get heated to the required temperature then it stays as a solid waiting for someone to dig it up, put it into a retort, cook to 400-450 deg and simmer.

So the difference between oil shale and shale oil, can be summed up by nature has done our cooking for us. Nature seems to have done a good job in the Arckaringa Basin.

But remember, it is an expensive extraction method in a remote location. We need a fairy god mother, just like when BHP bought Petrohawk for $12b. Now I am dreaming, but just moving the decimal place once to the left still gives $2 a share, lol.

I like these kind of days!
