Is it because she is aboriginal? Is it because she is female? Is it because she is a celebrity? Is it because Gillard says so?
What makes her so emminently qualified to be almost guaranteed a seat in the Senate on July 1 next year?
I am sure there are many, many dedicated, qualified and capable members of the Labor party who could and should have been considered for this role.
We had Carr parachuted in without even being elected, now we have a supposed preselected NT senate candidate who wasn't even a member of the ALP!!
All without any input from the branches in the NT or the NT Labor party apparatus.
Says a lot for how much the federal Labor party machine values the efforts of those toiling away at branches, handing out how to vote cards, supporting the party and voting for the party.
All those Labor supporters in NT have been shafted by Gillard & Co.
Whilst I am sure Peris-Kneebone will perform the duties required of her, what a shambles to allow the process to be circumvented like this.
