I said that you COULD be right about what TJ intended, not that you definately were. I tried to ask TJ to clarify his intent, but my Ouja Board melted, and got no answer.Someone had spilt Marmite on it?
I think gun owners in the US would scupper any serious debate on that issue.

Its NOT as civilised as you think, and people are attacked with macheties, syringes, and other weapons by thugs, kidnapped, put in the boot of cars, etc. Those are also deadly weapons.

Supposed to, but they dont. If they did, there would be no violent attacks, eh? So obviously they dont. Sometimes there are just too busy to respond.
A true story I've posted before: A local legend had a prowler in his yard. Now, this guy could have gone out & torn the prowler to bits by himself, but he called the cops.
"Sorry, we have no one available to respond".
20 minutes later the guy rang again: " He's still there, you coming or not?"
"Sorry,we still have no one available to respond".
So the guy waited a few minutes and rang up & said: :Dont worry about it, I shot the sod".
In less than a minute there were 6 or 7 police cars with lights flashing & sirens screaming outside his house.
What does that tell you? Oh, and the prowler got away.
You can never find a cop when you really need one. They are better at dealing with crime scenes than protection.

So there you are. Dont know where you live, but in my neck of the woods you can get bashed by a mob for your cigarettes. So what is your solution? Stay locked in the house?
When the world becomes perfect, we wont NEED guns. But some of us will still enjoy shooting as a hobby/discipline.
Its a skill.
Now, excuse me, I have to clean my gun. :-)
