Back in 2003, biota had a promising HIV treatment compound ? What happened to it?

I heard that many great lab discovries of drugs ended up being stolen and patented by other parties, other than the genuine parties who first made the discoveries.

Biota needs to protect its IP more proactively. The HCV patent grant dispute from Biocryst is an example.

Gilead now is leading the HIV field. Gilded is also a very young company.
