Dearest Sherlock Buffet,
Are you suggesting that political parties be allowed to make up any figures they like to "cost" policies without having anyone check if their assumptions are reasonable or not? Like the Libs did to pull the wool over the eyes of the electorate last election. Only caught out because of the hung parliament.
The issue is not if the actuals match the budget (as many other factors come into play that cannot be known) but if the budget is based on all reasonable assumptions known to date. Wouldn't want anyone to make an 11 BILLION dollar "mistake" (cough cough) would we?????
Now with the confidential budget office, the opposition will have NO excuses at all (at least none legit). Given plenty of time too so they won't have to rush. May even have enough time to come up with a policy to submit besides the paid baby leave load of crock that will cost 10 times more than the NBN they want to stop.
Cannot wait.
