Ok, so im still recovering from yesterday.

It's the usual stuff: America the arrogant. America the rude. America, you'll get yours. Krauthammer is a means to Adams' end, the hook on which he hangs the douche bag of his thoughts while flushing out another load of the same old cr@p.

Like most Adams columns, it's not really about its stated subject -- in this case, Iraq, America, or why bad men should be toppled when good ones have the means and the opportunity to do so. As usual, Adams is writing about, well, Adams -- the most fascinating subject he has ever encountered.

"Here I am," he all but announces to readers, "confronting the Great Satan and ready, as ever, for my closeup." In order to demonstrate his virtue, Adams paints Krauthammer as the face of American Evil, first administering what he no doubt imagines to be a witty slap. The name Krauthammer, Adams says, "simultaneously evokes notions of a master race and massive blows to the anvil."

Master race? What, as in Nazi? Adams must have had a good chuckle penning that line, given that Krauthammer is a Jew.

Then there's the bit about Krauthammer being one of the "most hawkish of the Bush chickenhawks." Piggy wants us to picture Krauthammer as the archetypical armchair general, hiding comfortable and safe behind a desk while others march off to die. Actually, Krauthammer wouldn't be much use on a battlefield. He's a paraplegic.

Piggy also lets readers know how he set the "preposterous" Krauthammer straight about world affairs. Evidently Krauthammer, who is an MD and a psychiatrist, can recognise a victim of terminal self importance. One rather gathers, reading between the lines, that he dismissed Piggy as a fool. "As with Krauthammer's machinegun delivery, Bush's speech was as memorable for its bad manners as for its message," sneers the swine by way of revenge.

So Krauthammer is rude! This from someone who likens a Jew to a Nazi and accuses a man in a wheelchair of being a coward. Now that's rich.

Finally, there's Piggy's parting shot, the one that began this post, the jibe about Krauthammer being a "Republican fundamentalist."

Up until this point, Piggy had merely been twisting truth and fact in his sweaty little trotters. As his farewell, however, he leaves readers with an outright lie. Krauthammer no more fits the profile of a far-right fire-breather than, say, Christopher Hitchens, who also favours providing Iraq's people with an opportunity to repay their dictator for his years of bloody terror. A fundamentalist? No way. Krauthammer fits comfortably on the editorial board of the New Republic, which has been ardent in its support of Al Gore. He writes for Time, not Der Sturmer. He has denounced the death penalty, argued for a greater intake of immigrants to the U.S., and accepts that global temperatures grew somewhat warmer over the previous century (but doesn't get too excited about it). As The Washington Post editorial boss Meg Greenfield said, Krauthammer's columns are "independent and hard to peg politically."

Yes, Krauthammer would be out of place with the circle jerks at one of Piggy Phil's soggy biscuit parties. But a John Bircher? No way. Fact is, he's not even a Republican. As Piggy could have found out if he cared as much about truth as he does for the sound of his own voice, Krauthammer is a Democrat. And not just any Democrat, either, but Walter Mondale's former speechwriter.
