    Are we getting early indication of a significant hydrocarbon accumulation at Gibb Maitland location?

    As we know Gibb Maitland-1 well will be drilled down to 3900m as the Goldwyer formation is about 350m lower than Nicolay-1 well at this location.

    However we have started to get the background gas increase at around 2500m-2600m in Gibb Maitland-1 well location despite we saw the same backgorund gas increase at 2,850m in Nicolay-1 well !

    It was said on the Anns. on Jan.16 2013 when the total depth was reached to 2,700m at Gib Maitland location;
    “Minor increases in background gas were observed during the past week’s drilling activities” (while drilling from 2,166m to 2700m.)

    It is obvious that the background gas has started to increase at much lower depth than Nicolay-1 even though the formations are located at least 300m lower depth.

    The background gas increase depth difference between two wells is about 600m ! Gibb Maitland is giving background gas nearly 600m before reaching Goldwyer formation.

    On Gibb Maitland-1 well we are at 2900m depth at the time of Anns. on Jan. 23 2013 while we were still in salt formation which we think that we are 100m close to Bongabinni.

    In Nicolaye-1 well Background gas started to increase at 2,850m.

    In Nicolay-1 well, on Oct. 4 2012, the Bongabinni formation was encountered at 2,728m and the Anns. said "No hydrocarbons were encountered during the week and none were anticipated."

    Then on Oct. 11 2012 The Anns said; the depth at 3,204;
    "Increase in background gas from a depth of approximately from 2,850m to 3,200m

    There is Bongabinni formation in front of us at around 3000m depth with an expected thickness of 100m-150m. Then Nita formation comes at around 3,150m-3,200m with a thickness of 100-150m again. Nita is known by its featues for being a hydrocarbon reservoir as a dolomite. it's always one of our main targets here as it can easily accumulate the hydrocarbons in the right conditions, and it is sitting in the wet-gas windown here.

    Then Goldwyer should be starting around at 3200m.

    Also, before Jan. 16, before the minor background gas increase anns. was made, a big jump on stock price was recorded. It went up to 34.50c from 29c all of sudden after a long time. You can seee that on Jan. 10 and Jan 11. (Jan.12 and 13 was weekend) (There was an anns. on Jan. 9 but there was no background gas increase on that anns.). Who could get excited that much at time !

    Here is the graphic explanation. There you go!
