Copper surges on London market

London Metal Exchange (LME) copper surged more than three per cent on Monday as funds returned to the market, buying oil and precious and base metals, dealers said.
Three months copper futures ended open outcry trade at $US3,623 a tonne in London, up $US113 from Friday's kerb close.
Copper touched a record $US3,725 a tonne earlier this month.
