can a packer be removed once it is in there?

So, the Socrates issue with the packer...and the 'discussions' with Packers Plus, which our partner CMX seems to have banished from its website.....can a packer be removed once it is installed? ie can Socrates be reconditioned? I would have thought Packers Plus would be falling over themselves to ensure that the industry thought their Packers were good, given the amount of business in the US at present...

here is a quote from their web site (they seem to be working everywhere...but no mention of our little operation in their case studies:
