A google search found some alternatives powering methods if your concerned about battery failure, a solar panel and a UPS that is software monitored, etc.

Hello glug, just to clarify...I do not believe any of the scenarios that may and can occur have even been considered with the White Elephant NBN.
Personally I don't care about the NBN or it's future issues as I will be on wireless anyway, but as a taxpayer what concerns me are the millions of Australians who often don't have a choice and will have this over rated expensive NBN rubbish forced on them with no alternative...we know that when it is available to an area you will have a set time to hook up for nothing, then it will cost you a connection fee after the copper connection is shut off after some thing like 36 months.
That is when the drama and unseen costs and inconvenience will manifest.
As I said in a previous post, I lost power for two days in the storms a couple of weeks ago.

I ran a gen set to keep fridges going and to run TV and lights. We have gas cooking and hot water so that was fine.
I powered up my PC and modem as I have cable...no internet connection, Fox was down too. I am 7kms from the CBD in Brisbane. It would have been no different with fibre optics.
No lines down I was told, a transformer failure cut the power, so why no cable internet activity? The cable in my area is strung from post to post not underground, as are the telephone wires and the NBN will be IF it ever arrives.
The street behind was fine, no loss of power.

Wireless internet was available, and the phone worked when I powered it up as I have a wireless phone system and needed power to the base unit.

I do not believe a thing said by the promoters of the NBN, as firstly they could not be negative, they are paid to be positive, and besides they have no history to draw on as it was never planned properly.
The fact they had no business plan at commencement says it all! With only a handful of people in scattered areas connected at this time it is hardly enough to be able to sense the reliability of the NBN. I am pointing out what are very obvious pitfalls at this time.
