I've been using Quicken for many many years......currently using Quicken Personal Plus 2011.
Once you choose a particular software and you want to keep long term records you are more or less locked into that software.
I find it quite good.
I will admit Quicken want their pound of flesh. I was using an old version....a 16 bit version and when I upgraded to a 32 bit computer, the old version didn't work. Quicken wanted to charge me unspecified $ for them to convert my files to the new version.
I cannot say how much Quicken costs today, but their website will provide answers.
I also know some people who have set up an Excel file to do the job.
