In Malaysia , city and town folks are likely to be and has always been anti establishment. They are also more vocal with their grievances and accusations , and have access to the modern media. But the reality is the rural population is the key to the outcome of the election. So if you travel to the cities and major towns only, which most foreigners including Australians do, you will probably get it wrong. The rural population which are mainly Malays and Natives carries more seats, a sort of gerrymandering, if you like.
Even Anwar acknowledged that the key to grabbing Government is winning the States of Sabah and Sarawak. Some of these rural populations are enjoying whatever little handouts and pork barreling , and will vote for the incumbent.
Granted any election has uncertainties. With this coming Malaysian GE, it is not even sure whether the opposition will retain the numbers which they grabbed in the last election. If the opposition is so confident to win, why do they take to the streets, which few law abiding citizens want? Why not just wait for the time?
So don't go around scaring Lynas SH with impending doom. IMO , it is not going to happen.
