It looked like Howes had been over indulging in the generous hospitality provided by the hardworking members of the AWU at the Gold Coast shindig. I find it disgraceful that a human of this calibre essentially appoints and removes Prime Ministers of this country. As was written in the Herald today by Katherine Murphy:

'Gillard this week genuflected to Howes and to powerbroker Bill Ludwig. Not a great look from the vantage point of the general public, to be sure, a deep curtsy to the faceless men, but a gesture reflecting some basic realities of the relationship.'

There was an 'Australian Story' on ABC TV a couple of years ago on Howes. If you can get hold of it, have a look. Make up your own mind. As I say, I find it deeply disturbing that a human of this calibre essentially appoints and removes our Prime Ministers.
