    Geez, pessimistic there.

UK Gov's Dpt of Energy & Climate Change got a big report due soon on future energy generation trends. Likely to push Gen IV &/or Thorium use:

    Quick C&P from Wiki...

Relative to current nuclear power plant technology, the claimed benefits for 4th generation reactors include:

*Nuclear waste that remains radioactive for a few centuries instead of millennia.

*100-300 times more energy yield from the same amount of nuclear fuel.

*The ability to consume existing nuclear waste in the production of electricity. (more than offsets initial GenIV waste)

*Improved operating safety. (eg prob. of meltdown zero in some cases, yet to check individ details)

Gates and Branson are even looking at variants.

Longer term there is the holy grail of Fusion Energy.
