Bulls mate we've seen a lot of posters like this over they years saying investors should take responsibility for their losses. I find them pretty annoying myself even though I personally don't have CCC losses. The fact is CCC guidance on costs, timing and in particular margins on thermal coal were highly inaccurate to the point of being implausible in retrospect. Investors need to be rely at least to some extent on guidance given by managment. Unfortunately, that guidance was extrapolated by posters that we later found out were paid by the company.
As for jumping in at high prices, you don't know until afterwards. In my view current prices are very high for a very distressed holdco. Even if the South African assets are worth more than op co debt, I doubt very much that residual 74% equity owned to CCC shareholders is sufficient to exceed debt, royalties etc at the hold co. Certainly not in liquidation. Maybe CCC can avoid that scenario but dilution is likely to be massive as implied by the recent "standby" facility.
As for children, I have four myself. I hope if your investing money for yours that you at least understand the nature of your residual claim on the SA coal assets.
