One big limiter for CTP, LNC and others developing shale oil in outback SA is getting product economically to market.

Out of left field, and possibly quite silly, does anyone know if a gas pipeline could be easily converted to an oil pipeline?

    The reasons I ask are:

    1. There is the existing Alice Springs (Palm Valley I think) to Darwin gas pipeline which is the main fuel supply for Darwin's gas fired power station

    2. Surely in the not too distant future with off shore gas coming on shore at Darwin the smidge needed for the power station could be diverted and possibly more cheaply than piping gas from Central Australia?

    3. There is then possibility of a redundant pipeline from Central Australia? At the very least, surely the easement would be an asset?

    Cheers
