Two main reasons:
1. LYC is actually up and running, with first production imminent. And I don't know where you got the (mis)information about not being able to find markets - it has virtually all of its production for years pre-sold in contracts with Sojitz, and JV with Siemens, BASF, etc. There will be no shortage of customers. In contrast, ALK is still years away from producing ANY rare earth products.
2. The main reason is called diversification - buy BOTH. Buy Lynas for the now and the near future, and buy Alkane for its potential but much further off.
