The price follows the news. If the news is released while a market is open that market will typically react first. If the All Ordinaries is closed then the US market may react first if someone is awake.
The volume has been going down steadily for the past several weeks. Some days it has been only a few thousand shares. The recent high may have been a couple of hundred thousand shares.
The news percolate very slowly typically its way to the US, but the real traders are right on, so we sometimes get large movements with very little reporting carried by the US news services. It is the reason I am on this board.
